Turn Up the Radio. Awesome Madonna in top form. MDNA

Awesome summer anthem. Madonna releases one of the better tunes off the MDNA album. Turn Up the Radio. A song that should’ve been the first release. The song is fantastic and so is the video.   She plays someone escaping the ‘maddening crowd’ to take a drive through Europe  and picking up people to join in her fun along the way.

Click on the link to watch the video:

Madonna’s MDNA album is the 12th best selling CD of 2012 at this point.  The top 11 are all men or male groups.

When the world starts to get you down
And nothing seems to go your way
And the noise of a maddening crowd
Makes you feel like you’re going to go insane

There’s a glow of a distant light
Calling you to come outside
To feel the wind in your face and your skin
And it’s here I begin my story

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don’t ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

It was time that I opened my eyes
I’m leaving the past behind
Nothing’s ever what it seems
Including this time and this crazy dream

I’m stuck like a moth to a flame
I’m so tired of playing this game
I don’t know how I got to this stage
Let me out of my cage cause I’m dying

To turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don’t ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don’t ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

I just wanna get in my car
I wanna go fast and I gotta go far
Don’t ask me to explain how I feel
Cause I don’t wanna say where I’m going

Turn up the noise and turn up the volume
Don’t have a choice
Cause the temperature’s pounding
If leaving this place is the last thing I do
Then I want to escape
With a person just like you

Buzzing around like a moth to a flame
I’m so sick and tired of playing this game
We gotta have fun if that’s all that we do
Gotta shake up the system
And break all the rules
Gotta turn up the radio
Until the speakers blow!

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don’t ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio

Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
There’s some things you don’t need to know
Just let me turn up the radio

Turn up the radio
Let me turn up the radio
Let me turn up the radio

Life Lessons from an Avenger. Jeremy Renner

Life Lessons from an Avenger
Monday, May 14, 2012 By Alexis Breese

Jeremy Renner’s name has become more and more popular as one of Hollywood’s newest hunks. Jumping from movies with Tom Cruise and Ben Affleck with his latest box office hits, Renner has a similar story that many of us should remember as we go on into adulthood and move on from high school to college.

Jeremy Renner is one of the many stars in the box office hit Marvel’s Avengers. Renner was most notably recognized for his role in The Hurt Locker receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. But Renner wasn’t always well known for his piercing intense stares and gruff yet soft voice. In fact, Renner picked up odd jobs to pay the bills “when acting didn’t,” something we should all take a lesson from as we start to progress into our adult lives.

There is no reason we shouldn’t be doing what we love, but too many people sacrifice what they love because it isn’t a safe option. But this doesn’t have to happen. Life isn’t going to magically hand you a six figure job with all the bells and whistles, but in today’s society we as students need to recognize that we need to be proactive. Renner was a makeup artist to help pay his rent while still keeping up in his acting career.

Stepping into a new environment and stage in our lives is a scary thing. Many people forgo their passions and pick some boring, safe option. But the key to success isn’t safe and secure. We have to be able to figure out where the line between dreams and reality meet and find balance between the two. Like Renner, I plan to be smart about my life dreams, keeping the balance between goals and reality on equal scales.

Michelle Pfeiffer’s statement on Marriage Equality when asked where she stands

Michelle Pfeiffer who has always been gay friendly and has many gay friends has never been one to be political or make a statement about the issue.   However, when recently asked where she stands on it since no one ever hears anything from her on the topic, she had this to say.

Michelle Pfeiffer statement on Marriage Equality when asked where she stands: “I do not know what the big deal is with legalizing same-sex marriage. I don’t understand the problem people have with that. I can’t even wrap my head around that way of thinking. I don’t know if it’s judgmental, bigoted? I don’t know how a person gets to be like that. I mean, who’s it hurting, you know?”

She can be seen in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows which opens this week and People Like Us in June 2012.

Zac Efron drops his shorts; The Lucky One opens this month.

Zac Efron is one of those guy’s who will always be considered to be like fine wine.  He’s only going to continue getting even more attractive the older he gets.  I met him back in December at the Trevor Project which is organization that prevents gay teen suicide.  Also met him on NYE, I can tell you that he is exactly what you expect…a sweetheart.  He surprisingly doesn’t really drink.  He’s not a party animal which makes sense because you don’t look that good getting trashed every week.

I hope he’ll forgive me for posting these photos where he’s reaching into places that shouldn’t be caught by a camera, but he looks so damn good you’ve got to own it and flaunt it.

He’ll be seen this month in the romantic drama, “The Lucky One.”

Uh-oh…he discovers he’s being watched:

He aims the camera right back at them!

Fiona Apple writes to a young gay teen back in 2000

A 16 year old, Bill Magee, wrote to singer, Fiona Apple, back in 2000 after she performed a concert.  The letter he slipped her was a request to write a few sentences of support for his school’s Gay Straight Alliance. recently got wind of the letter that Fiona Apple later sent him back.

Hello Bill,

I got your letter a few days ago, but this is the first chance I’ve had to sit down and write (it’s my day off)

Of course, I’d love to help – sign me up. As far as a few sentences go, here’s what I’ve got – I hope it’s OK:

It’s hard to conjure up some new profound way of commenting on this issue – I’m so tired of it being an issue at all, and I suppose I’m lucky, because I see the truth so clearly. All I know I want my friends to be good people, and when my friends fall in love, I want them to fall in love with other good people. How can you go wrong with two people in love? If a good boy loves a good girl, good. If a good boy loves another good boy, good. And if a good girl loves the goodness in good boys and good girls, then all you have is more goodness, and goodness has nothing to do with sexual orientation. A person who loves is a righteous person, and if someone has the ability and desire to show love another – to someone willing to receive it, then for goodness’ sake, let them do it. Hate has no place in the equation; there is no function for it to perform. Love is love, and there will never be too much.

-Fiona Apple

Advocate celebrates its over four decades of delivering news and entertainment

The Advocate prepares for a momentous night celebrating 45 years of advocacy.  When most causes fall to the wayside, the Advocate is still around and is as relevant as it was 45 years ago if not more.  This is one of the most significant periods in history for the Advocate to be around.  Gay rights and acceptance has been building each year since the early 90’s specifically at an exponential rate.  When same sex marriage was legal (briefly) in California, I was stunned at how fast it happened to begin with.  I thought it would be years or even decades before that came about.  Even though it was taken away (briefly), it actually got the ball rolling and people talking.  It happened that way for a reason.

MADONNA defends gays against gay Propaganda laws; Bullying & Teen Suicide; new album, video & will answer questions on Facebook.

Last week, following the passage by St. Petersburg, Russia of a law banning gay “propaganda” which bars (and imposes fines for) gay groups, gay books and periodicals, LGBT Pride events, and other “promotion” of homosexuality, there were calls from Russian journalists for boycotts of the city.

Madonna’s first tour in Russia this year drew the ire of orthodox Christian activists. Now she vows to defy a new law against promoting homosexuality when she performs in President-elect Vladimir Putin’s hometown in August.

Madonna Answers St Petersburg’s Controversy:

“I’m a freedom fighter.
My show
My songs
My work
My art
Is all about freedom of expression
Freedom to choose to speak to act
Always with humanity and compassion
I will come to St. Petersburg to speak up for the gay community, to support the gay community and to give strength and inspiration to anyone who is or feels opressed.
I don’t run away from adversity.
I will speak during my show about this ridiculous atrocity.”

Madonna’s latest studio album entitled “MDNA” is available now.   The album is a lot of fun and almost a longer version of “Confessions on a Dance Floor”.  It’s really quite good, but that’s not a surprise when it comes to the woman who has been working non-stop in the entertainment industry for 30 years.  She’s one of the few artists who is known in every corner of the globe, every generation regardless of race, religious denomination, political affiliation or sexual orientation.  She manages to attract the best parts of all them to her.

Pick up your copy of MDNA here and go for the deluxe edition so you can get a bunch of additional tracks.  The album hit #1 in 50 countries before it’s release date.  She will also be touring the world this year starting in May. Check to see if she’s performing in a city near you!

Are Kirk Cameron and Dr. Michael L. Brown ‘accomplices to murder’? The answer is yes.

Is Kirk Cameron ‘an accomplice to murder’?

Dr. Michael L. Brown doesn’t think so. Of course he’s wrong. DEAD WRONG. I’m also going to go with that he doesn’t support same sex marriage or like homosexuals all that much, because the odds of him supporting it and saying something so dangerous are very slim.

He’s calling this the latest ‘accomplice to murder’ charge by gay activists which also shows how ignorant he is. Where did he get his pathetic doctor degree anyway? The school of dumb ass?

Most people are not gay activists even when they support same sex marriage and equate anyone that spews vile hatred towards another group. We call those people human beings with compassion toward their fellow man. We call them walking in the footsteps of the real Jesus Christ.

Some of the excerpts Dr. Michael L. Brown dangerously charges:

“It’s one thing to be called an intolerant bigot. It’s another thing to be called “an accomplice to murder,” but that’s the latest charge being raised by gay activists and their allies — and it needs to be exposed for what it is: an outrageous lie.”
“The backlash was immediate and intense (surprise again!)” He writes.

Interesting that Dr. Michael L. Brown that he hoped that people wouldn’t come to the aid of those that were being attacked by ugly people like Kirk Cameron. They prefer that everyone just shut up and let them continue attacking people who just want to be left alone. What a wacky world!

This doctor poorly attempts to debunk the myth that Kirk Cameron and Pastor Rick Warren are killing gays. He doesn’t know how the world works. People like Dr. Michael L. Brown and Kirk Cameron are definitely responsible for the abuse of gays. They are contributing to violence by spreading the word of violence against another group. They are saying it’s okay to do that because we have freedom of speech and you shouldn’t like these people. You’d think this idiot doctor would’ve learned something with all his years on this planet.

Dr. Michael L. Brown, Kirk Cameron and Pastor Rick Warren are responsible for contributing anti-gay rhetoric to the masses and thus causing a plague of gay suicides and killings. But you don’t expect a murderer to step forward and graciously admit that do you?

They are the monsters of society.  They want us to sit still and shut up while they berate and harass innocent people.

One day those people with that kind of hate in their hearts will be no more. The world is changing and people are stepping up with compassion to defend loving human beings against those who falsely represent God. This is actually great news when people like Dr. Michael L. Brown and Kirk Cameron speak out against other people, because someone new has had enough of it steps up and speaks out in defense of them. In this case, homosexuals are gaining more and more acceptance and strength by a new person everyday and that just pisses those other losers off!

We will continue to work to stop them all from their cruelty.

“Kirk Cameron says his gay friends support him after he ripped their lifestyle in a recent interview.” By Kurt Schlosser. “The rule of thumb this week appears to be that if you don’t have anything nice to say, say it a lot on the radio, TV or Twitter.”

Madonna Truth or Dare Documentary DVD released April 3, 2012

MADONNA Truth or Dare DVD available after April 3, 2012.

The documentary came out in the early 90’s and is still the #1 most successful documentary of all time.  When it hit theaters no one had ever seen anything like it before. It was a back stage glimpse at what celebrity life is really like. Some believe this was at the height of Madonna’s success when she was beyond big.  Today no one has come close to the caliber she reached at that point. There was only her out there, whereas today there are so many and most are just marketed, packaged clones of what was already done.

Madonna is brazen, bold and maybe even loud mouthed.  Is she playing it for the camera?  In some sequences there is a definite heightened version shown on screen of what she wanted people to see.  Other times she is completely oblivious to the camera’s being there like for example when she’s angry with her sound crew for not making sure that the sound and microphones were top notch.

This isn’t just about celebrity, this also showed Madonna’s ferocious work ethic and attention to detail.  It displayed the business side of her that most are or were unaware of.  Siskel & Ebert had commented that this was someone who could run a business empire if she wanted to just quit music for good.

At this point Madonna had rarely done interviews and she was way beyond powerful.  No one was quite sure what she was like.  This gave viewers an up close and personal view.  What was also great about this was it also showed her generous side by allowing her back up singers and dancers adequate screen time.

The documentary is in black and white, but it cuts into color for the many on stage concert performances of the tour she was on while this was being filmed.  The Blonde Ambition Tour in 1990.  This was a technically staged concert that was so elaborate it had also never been done before and set the bar really high for performers and musicians to really put on a great show.  We later saw other artists like Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga do the same – just to name a few.

This film was so well done and so well received that even the Madonna haters went to see it as well, coming out of the theaters saying things like, “Well I never liked her, but after seeing this I have to say I do admire how hard she works.  I have a new found respect for her.”

If you can turn a life long hater to folding and admitting they have appreciation for her even if they don’t care for her music then you know the film did its job.

Madonna is much calmer and more spiritual now so I should warn that this documentary features strong language and sexual innuendo that might be deemed offensive to some.  However, most know what Madonna is like and can be, so no warning should be necessary.

Long before there was Lady Gaga, there was Madonna.  Truth or Dare was the first time the world had really had gays shoved in their faces.  Madonna was the first entertainer to brutally push them out into public view.  This was also the beginning of the shift where others began to follow in Madonna’s footsteps in bringing out support for gays.  I find it amusing when I see some of these gays stating that Madonna is a has been and other derogatory words.  Not only are using the same hate speech that the world uses on them, but they would not have some of the luxuries of having half the world accept them if it were not for Madonna’s massive and fearless support for gays back in the late 80’s and 90’s.  She made the world see how cool or great it was to be gay.

It’s unfortunate that the full tour concert has yet to be released on DVD, but in this film you do get an edited glimpse of some performances that include, “Express Yourself”, “Oh Father”, “Like A Virgin”, “Live to Tell”, “Holiday”, “Vogue” and “Keep it Together”.

Madonna talks to The Advocate in February 2012 here

Kevin Stea, one of Madonna’s former back up dancers recalls how his life was forever changed when he traveled the world with Madonna during her Blond Ambition Tour, which was captured in the documentary Truth or Dare.  Click here for his full story.

The DVD is scheduled for a major re-release on April 3, 2012.
